Got my credit report from TransUnion. I saw that the State of Arizona, Dept of Child Support Enforcement ran an “Account Review Inquiry” on me. I’ve never lived in Arizona, all of our children live with me and my husband. I have no account or business relationship with the State of Arizona. Are they allowed to run a credit check on me? Is just anybody allowed to run a credit check on anybody else?

could it be they confused you with someone with the same name? that’s very disturbing though and i would call them directly and find out what’s up.
state agencies can run a credit check, with your knowledge, i.e. you signed something that tells you they will. others are landlords, utility companies, and of course creditors. basically, nothing is private.
That sounds like some kind of identification mistake on Arizona’s part.
